Curriculum

The academic year generally starts by the first week of April and ends in March of the following year with two breaks – one in summer and the other in winter. The medium of instruction in the school is English. IISJ follows the CBSE Syllabus of Studies in the following subjects:

Registration

Registration for new admission begins every year in the mid-week of March of the preceding academic year for the next academic year. An amount of SR 500 is to be deposited at the time of registration. In case, the child is not admitted, this amount will be refunded.

Admission

With effect from the academic year 2010-2011, admissions are confined to Indian children only from the age of three plus as on 1st April of the current academic year ranging from Kindergarten to Class XII. However, in exceptional cases admissions may be granted to foreign nationals subject to approval from the Ministry of Education (MOE), availability of seats and the given fee structure.

The School Prospectus with Admission Form is made available at the Cash Counter for SR 15 per copy.

1) For admission in LKG, the child must be THREE PLUS as on 1st April of the current academic year. Admission to other classes will be in the same order so that the child will complete 15 years as on 1st April, in the year in which he/she appears for the AISSE in Class X. Admissions are granted to KG on the basis of priority of registration and results of interview.

2) For the Admission Test, a non-refundable fee of SR 50 per child will be charged.

3) Admission to Classes I – XI is granted on the basis of the results of admission tests for students coming from non-CBSE affiliated schools. The standard of admission tests will be of the level of annual examination of the class preceding to which admission is sought.

4) Admission to Classes X and XII will be granted to only those who are transferred from CBSE affiliated schools. When admission is sought after the commencement of the academic session and before 30th September, the students are required to produce Transfer Certificate, Records of attendance, Grades of previous tests and Proof of completed assignments and projects.

ADMISSION TESTS WILL BE HELD ON ALL SUNDAYS OF THE ABOVE – STATED MONTHS

5) Admission Tests will be held in the following manner :

LKG & UKG          :   Only Interview.

Classes 1 to V          :   English, Hindi, Mathematics and EVS – Written Test.

Classes VI to IX       :   English, Hindi, Mathematics and Science – Written Test.

Class XI - Commerce :   English, Mathematics and Economics – Written Test.

Class XI - Science     :   Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology – Written Test.

 

6) From Class II onwards, admission will be granted only on submission of Transfer Certificate (issued not more than one month earlier), Progress Report / CCE Assessment Report and Total Attendance up to the time of admission, besides qualifying in the admission test.


7) Admission may be granted to students who are weak in one or two subjects provided the parents give an  undertaking that their ward will improve within a period of three months.  In such cases, his/her performance will be under observation and the student may be shifted to a lower class if found unsatisfactory even after a period of three months from admission.

The Administrative Section of the school requires the following documents from the parents at the time of new admission :

2. Copies of the Passports – Students and Parents

3. A copy of Family Iqama

4. Original copies of Transfer Certificate and Progress Report

5. Medical Fitness Certificate

6. Five Passport Size Photographs of the student

7. Declaration from Father / Company – Reimbursable /  Non-Reimbursable

Establishment Levy

From all parents, a non-refundable Establishment Levy will be collected only at the time of first admission of the child in the following manner :

This levy will be refundable only if the child is not admitted or the child does not attend school even for a single day after admission. No Establishment Levy will be collected from stduents transferred from any of the International Indian Schools in the Kingdom, provided the same had been paid in the previous IIS.

C) Concessional Fee Structure  

This fee structure is applicable for those parents who are not entitled to get reimbursement of their children’s educational expenses or whose children are not sponsored by their employer, provided they produce a declaration certificate to this effect. The details are as follows:

 School Transport Users will have to pay Transport Fee for the Academic Year in 10 equal installments of SR 100 per child.

WITHDRAWAL

If a parent wishes to withdraw his ward during an academic year, a notice of withdrawal should be given in writing and Tuition Fee for and up to the month for which notice for withdrawal is given.  If a child is to be withdrawn after an academic year, Tuition Fee is to be payable till the end of the academic year, provided withdrawal notice is given before the end of March.  If the child is withdrawn during an academic year, tuition fee paid in advance corresponding to the calendar months subsequent to the date of withdrawal will be refunded.

SCHOOL TRANSPORT

The School will continue to arrange transport to interested users through the contractor. However, the responsibility of transporting their wards remains with the parents.  If the bus facility is withdrawn, bus fee paid in advance corresponding the calendar months subsequent to the date of withdrawing the facility, will be refunded.  A separate application form of using the Bus Facility is available in the office.

SCHOOL INFRASTUCTURE

SCHOOL LIBRARY

Electronic Library Organizer, a new venture computer database developed by the Management is installed in library computers for easy and fast retrieval. Our libraries in the Boys and Girls sections have a vast reservoir of books , reference materials, Question papers of previous Board Examinations besides periodicals and other newspapers in English and other Indian languages. Teachers Corner, Language Students Corner, Examination Corner are some of the added attractions of the library. Students from Class IV onwards are eligible to borrow one book at a time per week.

SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER LABS

Laboratory facilities are provided for all the students from Classes I-XII. There are separate laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science. Computer Education is imparted to students from classes III onwards. Rules to observe while in laboratory:

AUDIO-VISUAL ROOM

Keeping in mind that visual presentation improves learning ability, the school has developed  Audio Visual rooms equipped with different modern equipments such as Overhead Projector, Slide Projector, A projector to show materials directly from books, Multi-media LCD besides TV and VCR in both Boys and Girls sections.

COUNSELLING CELL

Each child is endowed with unique character and temperament. Individual care and guidance through personal interaction is a must for his/her mental, physical, emotional and intellectual growth, which is the ultimate goal of education. IISJ has a professional School Counselor to address all students academic, social, personal social and career development needs through a well-planned School counseling Programme which also plays a vital role in maximizing student achievement.

FIRST AID SECTION

The First Aid Section is well-equipped and has qualified and experienced nurse to administer first aid in case of emergency. The school also arranges for vaccinations against diseases in coordination with the Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

INDOOR STADIUM/ MUTI PURPOSE HALL

To encourage healthy competition and build up stamina, inter house competitions are organized for both boys and girls in games and sports. In the MPH, Badminton, Table Tennis and Basket Ball courts are being developed with the latest technology. MPH is also utilized to host Annual Day function, Cultural Programmes, Teachers Workshops, Prize Distribution and other ceremonies. Outdoor games like Football, Sprint, High Jump, Long Jump, Throws and Kho-Kho are played in the vast open air grounds.

INDOOR ACTIVITY ROOM AND KIDDY PARK

The Indoor activity room provides environments for the tiny tots of classes LKG to I to learn while they play. It consists of a play area and an activity area to develop creativity, self-confidence, imagination and simple practical skills among them. A Kiddy Park is being developed adjacent to Kindergarten Section for the kindergarten kids to play safely in fresh, open and natural environment.

SCHOOL CANTEENS

School Canteens play a special role in the education, health and well-being of the students and school communities they serve. However, like all business, they need operational and managerial support to function effectively. The school together with parents has the responsibility to educate students about nutrition. As part of the school environment, the canteens are located in unique locations in both Boys and Girls Sections to make positive and worthwhile contribution to students health and welfare .

CCA, DRAMATICS & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

A number of activities both competitive and non competitive are held once a week to build up creativity and aesthetics. Emphasis is laid on dramatics, elocution, story-telling, recitation, debating, drawing, painting and so on. House system is followed to promote healthy competition, cooperation and team spirit among the children. Utmost effort is made by all teachers to encourage every child to take part in the inter house level. Children are also encouraged to take part in interschool contests in Cluster Meet, Zonal Meets and Nationals. Besides these Children are made to actively participate in other school activities like exhibition, fun Day, excursion, and notice board decoration. And so on. Dramatics and cultural activities of school culminates in the colorful display of or students talents on the occasions of Annual Day and special Assemblies on  Saudi  National  Day, Gandhi Jayanthi, Childrens Day, Teachers Day and Republic Day.

WORK EXPERIENCE / SUPW

Syllabus in Work Experience and SUPW has been framed class wise. Students are provided with the list of materials to be brought before hand. Most of the basic and urgently required stationary and craft materials are made available on payment by the school store.
